SXSW 2008: Fantasy Day 3

The schedule for Friday, March 14, includes some bands that are brand new to me, like Minneapolis band Solid Gold, King of Prussia from rock-rich Athens, GA, Driving By Night from Belfast, Ireland, Austin's own the Lovely Sparrows, and the exotic Ruby Suns from New Zealand. I knew People In Planes previously from only one song, "If You Talk Too Much," and I was pleased to find out that I like more of their songs.

Liam Finn, son of Neil Finn (Crowded House), obviously inherited his dad's talent for melody, harmony, and hooks. Speaking of exotic, there is another chance today to see DeVotchKa in case we missed them before. I can't wait to see what new stuff those multi-lingual gypsies have got now.

Also on today's schedule are bands that we have seen before, and I can vouch for their performances. Joseph Arthur, originally from Texas, is a must-see, as are The Builders and the Butchers. We start the afternoon with the showcase of Scottish bands.
