Dear Readers:

I have just learned that Iain Smith, one of the three members of London-based band Chow Chow, passed away unexpectedly last Sunday, June 24. He was only 26 years old.

Stu and Nathan, the other two band members, are understandably in shock and feel that this is the end of Chow Chow as well. They have posted a goodbye message to their MySpace friends. They also have a page for tributes and condolences for fans.

I posted about Chow Chow in January. That's Iain on the right in the picture. I was pleased that things seemed to be going so well for them this year. They kept up a steady stream of chatty bulletins about their live shows and successes. A tour was scheduled to support the release next month of their new EP Colours and Lines.

I am deeply saddened by this news, and my heart goes out to the band and members of Iain's family who are suffering his loss.

I will miss you, Iain and Chow Chow.
