Time Travel Tuesday: Radiohead Trivia

Did you ever wonder about the airport-announcer voice at the beginning of Radiohead's "A Reminder," the fourth track on 1998's wonderful little Airbag/How Am I Driving EP?
I did, and recently I found out that it belongs to Iris Lettieri, who was recently featured on an NPR broadcast titled The Most Captivating Voice In the World. Lettieri's low, sultry voice is well-known to airport travelers in her native country of Brazil. Travelers have actually missed their flights due to becoming entranced by her voice.
My husband lived in Brazil many years ago and had heard her announcements. He caught part of this broadcast on his commute home and looked it up when he got home. When I heard her voice, I remembered this song, although nowhere is it mentioned in the story or on her web site, which is in Portuguese, that Radiohead sampled her voice.

Are you referring to the voice at the beginning? The speaker is speaking in Czech (I'm fairly sure), saying someting along the lines of, "finish getting on an of the train, the doors are closing." I think it's from the Prague Metro/Subway.
It's very faint, but not ever having been on a train in Czechoslovakia, to me it sounded like Iris Lettieri, who does record in many languages other than Portuguese.
But thanks for the correction and the translation.
:)
yes it's true. In Prague's metro.
every time that the subways doors get close, you can hear that =)
the first time I've heard that I've recognized on the fly..
This is the phrase: "Ukončete výstup a nástup, dveře se zavírají"
