Logh - Swedish Lo-Fi

I love music that churns my blood up and gets me energized. But sometimes I want quiet, contemplative music for late at night or for a rainy day.

My thanks to @indiechristoph@ for recently posting a song by Logh, of Lund, Sweden, a band that specializes in dark, rainy day music. This is the finest kind of lo-fi, with whispered vocals, sinuous guitars, and lots of texture. Another good thing is that the songs don't sound all the same. Many are instrumentals. In that, and in their overall sound, they resemble Mogwai, but they may be a bit more restrained. Somehow their melancholy tunes are more uplifting than depressing, especially when you consider the song titles. These guys have a keen sense of humor.

from Every Time A Bell Rings an Angel Gets His Wings (2002)
Logh: Yellow Lights Mean Slow Down Not Speed Up
Logh: The Bastards Have Landed

from My Very Last Breath: The Emo Diaries (2002) (available at iTunes)
Logh: Guided Tour of a Dead Man's House

From A Sunset Panorama (2005)
Logh: The Smoke Will Lead You Home

The release of their fourth album is planned for Spring 2007. Short demos of two new songs, "Death to My Home Town" and "The Black Box" can be previewed here. I really like them and can't wait to hear to entire, completed songs.
