The Chinese Year of the Pig begins today, Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007

It's always the Year of Cat here at my house. I have been an unabashed cat-a-holic for the past 30+ years. The three I have now are without a doubt the friendliest and mellowest cats ever. They are so trusting, they will try as hard as they can to get the UPS man to pet them.

I once had a repair technician from our Internet provider here. He asked to use the computer for a moment to test the connection. The minute he sat down, a cat jumped in his lap. They are not even afraid of the vacuum cleaner--it's loud, but it has never hurt them, so what's the big deal? If they ignore it, it goes away. If they are feeling frisky, sometimes they give the vacuum or me a friendly tap as we go whirring by.

Spring will soon be arriving in our part of the U.S. The weather prediction calls for recurring flurries of cat hair with frequent fur drifts. Try saying that three times fast.
