I am a believer in Valentine's Day. At last I have a romantic association with it: three years ago Husband proposed to me on V-Day. At least, that is how I choose to remember it. We were in the middle of a noisy restaurant, the order was taking a long time coming, and he said, "If we are planning to live together, don't you think we should get married?" His face was glowing, and he had kind of a sheepish but expectant look on his face, like, "Uh-oh, now it's out, and what is she going to say?" I was so happy, I had no words; it was like no one else was there, and I kissed him.

He says we had talked about it before, but I think HE had been thinking about it and forgot to tell me. He does that sometimes. I do remember one time we were in the car, and he asked, "If you got married again, what would you want the wedding to be like?" It was an exciting idea, but I took it as a hypothetical question, not a proposal.

He says he isn't romantic, but he really is. He spent a lot of time researching the date we first met so we could commemorate it. He brings me flowers for no particular reason. He brings me Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Truffle Bars because he knows I require emergency chocolate supplies. He offers me the last of the coffee in the pot. And he is the best cuddler.
