CONTEST! Arcade Fire
Were you as excited as I was that Neon Bible, the new Arcade Fire album, was released on Tuesday? Did you take your lunch break at 10:00 am, rush to the nearest music store and buy the special edition CD package? Did you move the CD cover back and forth to see the pages of the Neon Bible move, while waiting for the cashier to turn on her cash register so you could pay (since you were the first person in the store)? Did you immediately rip off the plastic wrap, ignore the extra special little goodies in the package, and shove the disc into your CD player? Did you sit in your car, not eating lunch on your very early lunch break, and listen to the whole disc twice while playing with the little special goodies and flipping through the liner notes? Then, did you infect your 11 year old son on the way home from school? Or blast it from the speakers as soon as you got home? Are you listening to it right now?
If not, well then I guess you're not as excited as I was. But, you might be excited about winning a brand spanking new, unopened Special Edition Neon Bible CD, complete with nifty box, liner notes including full lyrics for every song, and two neat little flip books, shipped to you absolutely free.
Contest Information!
The contest winner will a brand spanking new, unopened Special Edition Neon Bible CD, in box, as described above. All you have to do is post a comment to this post with your favorite all time Arcade Fire song and your email address (so I can contact you if you're the winner). The contest ends March 12 at midnight, and I will pick the winner at random from the comments received. The winner will be contacted via email, and will need to respond by midnight on March 15, or I will pick another winner at random.
Good luck and enjoy these great new tracks from Neon Bible:

Neighbourhood #3, cause it bristles and crackles with vindictive emotion and energy.

I was gonna go with "No Cars Go," but then that other guy grabbed it. It'll have to be "Headlights Look Like Diamonds," since conveniently they're close to tied.
I'm sure this makes me unforgivably lame, but my favorite is Power Out. However, this is in large part because I was convinced for months that the lyrics were, "Light a candle for the kids. Jesus Christ, it's Kenan & Kel!" but was finally convinced otherwise by my much more intelligent wife.

"Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)"
It works perfectly as a beginning, crescendoing to begin something great. It's both soft and intense. If I were in a movie, this would be the song I wake up to.

Gotta be Cold Wind.
simon@thebluemask.com
i'm gonna have to go with 'Wake Up'. it just makes me happy, but in a sad kind of way...

Great blog by the way.

with lyrics like, "I carved your name across my eyelids..." it's gotta be Crown of Love
gazoline3@aol.com
On Funeral, "Crown of Love," it's catharsis par excellence... probably my top pick from their catalog...
On "Neon Bible," I've been enjoying all of it, but for now I'd have to go with "Neon Bible" because it's been in my head all day long!
