Eulogies at the Echo 10-02-07
Is everybody listening to their download of Radiohead's new In Rainbows this morning? I certainly am, but I didn't stay up late or get up early to try to beat anybody to the punch. You won't get any instant reviews here; I'm still listening, absorbing, and savoring.
Meanwhile...I've been meaning to say a few words about Eulogies, a three-piece from Los Angeles that Indie Mom and I saw recently.
Eulogies

Eulogies opened the evening at the CD release party for Division Day's Beartrap Island on October 2. I was impressed by their clean, engaging delivery and Peter Walker's vocals and lead guitar. Peter's songs are generally mid-tempo, bittersweet shoegazers supported by bassist Tim Hutton, who also supplies backing vocals, and drummer Chris Reynolds.
Walker started out as a solo act, but quickly saw the advantage to framing his introspective lyrics in a band sound. Tim Hutton told me after the show that the songs for the debut self-titled album, released earlier this month, were written and recorded within just a few months, which hints that there is plenty more to come from this promising young band.
