Solid Gold Drum Machine
Electronica Wednesday? Well, maybe this week anyway. And I see another post has been gobbled without notice and for no reason whatsoever--last Monday's "True Colors" cover by Ane Brun, which was provided to me legally for posting.
Solid Gold

Minneapolis "ghettotech" band Solid Gold have released their full-length follow-up Bodies of Water to their earlier EP Who You Gonna Run To?. Both feature smooth, shimmery electronic goodness, good for either dancing or trancing.
That is such a hilarious photo! From their MySpace.

Boy Eats Drum Machine

Get a load of this really different sound by Jon Ragel of Portland, AKA Boy Eats Drum Machine. Ragel juxtaposes turntable scratching and break beats with oriental samisen, saxophone, and who knows what else. The result is beyond catchy; it will make you remember why you love finding new music. This is Ragel's second full length as the redoubtable Boy, and reportedly his best so far.

I think they're more trance than dance, but the music is awesome no matter what you call it!
wow, i'm loving this! he's got a great voice, in addition to the rest of the funky instrumentation and beats. i may have to spend some emusic bucks on this one. : )
That Booomboxxx is really addictive, isn't it? I like Solid Gold a lot too. I'll have to use my eMusic credit on these too.
I have a really good friend who is kind of stuck in the 80s. He gives me mixes of stuff like Madonna and Duran Duran. And for Christmas, I give him mixed CDs of stuff like this, and he is blown away!
