In the Spirit of Christmas

We're taking a short break from our Best/Favorites lists to sneak in a Christmas post. These unusual songs remind us that not everyone has a holly-jolly Christmas.
"Christmas Day" by Australia's Anne McCue was a must-have from the minute I first heard it. I still get chills when she sings,
Anne McCue: Christmas Day
"Rudy" is not the famous reindeer, but a homeless man who sleeps on a warm-air grate under the town Christmas lights.
The Be Good Tanyas: Rudy Rudy from A Winter's Night soundtrack
Here's a young woman with a new baby, but she isn't the Virgin Mary.
The Nields: Merry Christmas Mr. Jones
If you can tell me what this song is about, please leave me a comment. For a comprehensive history of the band, see this great post dated December 1 at Indie Surfer.
Of Montreal: Christmas Isn't Safe For Animals from Kindercore Records Christmas Two (1999)
More to come!
