Coachella Photos: Minus the Bear

We called this "the Riven house"
Another fun thing about music festivals is seeing a band you don't know much about. At this year's Coachella, we took the opportunity to check out Seattle band Minus the Bear. We both knew of this band but hadn't quite gotten into their music. Since we didn't know their songs, we didn't try writing down the setlist.
Both of us were pleasantly surprised by their sound. I was especially taken with guitarist Dave Knudson, a very animated performer. I took about a zillion photos of him, trying to catch his expressions and motions. His guitar work is probably what I like best about this band. Since this show, I have bought a bunch more of their songs. After buying "Throwin' Shapes," I found it sounded familiar, so they probably played that.
The songs titles are absolutely hilarious (just one example of many: "Hey, Wanna Throw Up? Get Me Naked"), and the songs turn out to be very listenable as well.
It was approaching mid-afternoon and starting to get pretty hot, but every once in a while a breeze would lift the guys' long hair from their sweaty faces. I have one blurry photo of Dave Knudson with his hair standing straight up!

My apologies to bassist Cory Murchy, who I didn't get any close-ups of. He is at the right in the top photo with the beach ball.

Fantastic photos! Make us all jealous:) I also like the design of your site, will have to check it out more. Are you 'indie moms' as in the recent emusic feature of moms of indie rock band members, or are you women who are mothers and into indie music?
Beth in NY (and in the latter category)
Hey Beth,
We fall into the latter category. Alt-gramma is my mother, and I'm the mother of a child who could put me into the former category. We just love music!
Great pictures of a great band. Every release of theirs is unbelievable, and their live show is equally as good. Great site!
and that house is TOTALLY from Riven. They must have taken it directly from the game.
