finally friday

B(oot)log shares some live Stars from April and shares our hatred of inconsiderate view-blockers at shows.

Wild Sweet Orange continues to enthrall and amaze me. If you haven't checked them out yet, follow the link to their myspace for songs on their current tour schedule. We'll catch them at the Troubadour in June. Watch the video for "Wrestle with God" here:

(I love birds and WSO!)

L.A.'s self-proclaimed "world famous" radio station KROQ announced their lineup for their annual Weenie Roast on May 17. Metallica will headline, and The Raconteurs, MGMT, and The Bravery, among others, will appear.

Lost in Your Inbox reviews the new Mates of State and has a great Spiritualized remix of an otherwise unremarkable Goldfrapp track.

Music for Kids... reviews a Cloud Cult show and the lovely new album by Fleet Foxes.

Check out Music is Art for information about the second annual After The Jump Fest, brought to you by New York's finest music bloggers.

Radiohead and Tokyo Police Club shows combine to blow Muzzle of Bees' head off. I'm still pissed that I missed TPC earlier this year.

Quarterlife Party has the lowdown on My Morning Jacket's tour schedule and a contest - enter by May 21.

I never felt more white after reading Stuff White People Like. The list includes bottled water, religions their parents don't belong to, standing still at concerts, the 'idea' of soccer, and of course, coffee!, among others.

Yellow Stereo shares new Sigur Ros and the always wonderful Daily Graboid.

Pick up the new Nine Inch Nails release, since Trent is giving it away for free.

And finally, May is a busy month for us at shows. We will see Elbow tonight, and Earlimart, The French Kicks, and Beirut later this month, and we keep discussing more shows all of the time! We've talked to people who go to shows three or four times a week, but one a week is a lot for us.

wild sweet orange: ten dead dogs [buy July 15]
the french kicks: crying just for show [buy]
andrew bird: oh sister [bob dylan cover] [buy]
portishead: glory box (my favorite) [buy]

i detest those inconsiderate view blockers, too! i think there should be a height rule in standing room venues--shortest to tallest, front to back. think we could get all those 6' 2" guys to go for that? ;-)

enjoy the elbow show!

indie mom - Thanks, once again, for the link.

mjrc - as someone over 6'2" i'm down with that plan, as long as everyone plays the game. stupid people. I'm still enraged.

ps i'm very jealous of your portishead experience. Great photos.

happy friday
