Da Hype!

In the 80's Indie Mom was a big fan of the Cure. I liked a lot of their songs too. Oddly, I even had a college instructor who was a doppelganger for Robert Smith except for being female. Her hair was black-black-black and teased out to here, she was pale and drew kohl-black rings around her eyes, and she wore red lipstick. At least she didn't smear it across her face. To top it off, her last name was Smith. I swear I did not make that up. She was a cool lady, and I liked her a lot.

The Cure were the original cultivators of Goth. Many of their songs were spooky or morose, and with his ruined make-up, Robert always looked like he was about to cry. And that is why I love "Da Hype" even though I'm not usually into dance music.

Robert Smith, happy at last! Can you picture him dancing around and waving his arms, squealing with joy? No? Well, you can hear the squealing anyway! Seriously, what an unmistakable and remarkable voice he has.
