Coming Up: Gliss

I don't watch television, but if you do, maybe you've noticed a MasterCard commercial that features "Huh, What?" by Gliss, sounding a little like the old 60's band, the Seeds. They don't always sound like that, however. They are more likely to sound atmospheric and dark, sort of gasping/groaning out their lyrics like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, with whom they have toured, or some old 80's glam band.
My favorite is the dreamy "Velvet Stars" from their 2005 EP, Kick In Your Heart, but the trio have punched things up quite a bit on their full-length CD from last year, as you can tell from "Kissing the Boulevard" and the other songs you can stream on their MySpace page. I melt over cymbal-drenched "Peeping Tom" however. It takes me on a time-travel-trip back to my favorite stuff from the Dambuilders.
