I was one of the last to the Arcade Fire bandwagon, I'll admit it. It wasn't because I didn't like their sound (Alt-gramma hates them), it's that I avoided listening to them because of all the hype surrounding them. I figured that they couldn't possibly be as great as everyone was saying, probably because I had been burned before on big hype and little substance. But Arcade Fire lived up to and exceeded the merits heaped upon them. I can compare them to The Decemberists, another fine band which I love, but only due to the varied instruments and the skill in which the musicians work their magic with them. But both bands stand alone, in a world of their own.
