Fall In the Air

Fall has finally arrived to southern California. Although this area is not famous for its autumn foliage, some trees do assume gold and red colors. The air is crisper when not clouded with smoke from late October fires, and coyotes sing at night in the hills behind our house. I selected a few autumn-flavored songs suitable for the Day of the Dead, which is November 1 according to Mexican tradition.

When I was recently going through Badly Drawn Boy songs for a previous post, I saved this song for today for its appropriate lyrics: "To live in the hearts of those you loved is not to die."

Badly Drawn Boy: Take the Glory from One Plus One Is One (2004)(lyrics)

Laika: Breather from Sounds of the Satellites (1997)

the Airfields: The Turning of the Leaves from Laneways EP (2006)

Azure Ray: November from Saddle Creek 50, Disc 2 (2003)

M. Ward: Poor Boy from The Transfiguration of Vincent (2003)

Rosebuds: Leaves Do Fall from Birds Make Good Neighbors (2005)
