you can't make someone love you with a song
I was digging through my CDs, looking for my other Verve CD, my Mogwai CDs, and others, when I came across Home is Where You Hang Yourself and remembered how much I liked these songs. Her Space Holiday is a one-man band consisting of Mark Bianchi, although for tours, there are usually more people and of course, a laptop.
I first came across Her Space Holiday with the release of 2000's Home is Where You Hang Yourself, an awful-sounding title, but an excellent dreamy disc. At that time in my life, I was doing a lot of long-distance driving, and this was often blaring through my car stereo speakers (The disc linked here is the 2002 re-release). I also bought 2001's Manic Expressive, with the song Key Stroke an album highlight, and 2003's The Young Machines is also an excellent disc, worth a listen or two. I haven't heard HSH's last release, The Past Presents the Future, but I've heard some good and bad things about it. I love the title, though.
According to the Her Space Holiday myspace page, HSH will release a disc and picture book, available in Japan and through the HSH store, called Telescope, on December 8, 2006. The song on the myspace page from the Telescope disc is really different from what the old HSH stuff sounded like, but it's great.
from Home is Where You Hang Yourself:
her space holiday: through the eyes of a child
from Manic Expressive:
her space holiday: key stroke
her space holiday: the ringing in my ears
from The Young Machines:
her space holiday: sleepy california
her space holiday: my girlfriend's boyfriend
from The Telescope:
her space holiday: the telescope
from myspace page:
her space holiday: xoxopandasleepytigers

Have you heard 'microfilmed' by HSH? Not sure where it's from, but it's unlike their other stuff, and well worth tracking down.
i knew when i saw frequent mention of the decemberists and radiohead that your blog would be right up my alley. eventually it would happen: i would hear something i found here, and have that "god i LOVE this" reaction. and it did happen. thanks for introducing me to HSH.
